Location: In Laikipia East, 80 kms from Nanyuki town.
Rooms: Lighter canvas tent or a large traditional safari tent, as well as luxury Tumaren tented camp in a fixed location with solar power and running water.
Facilities: Camel assisted walking safaris, safari-style “bucket showers”, freshly made meals prepared three times a day, no power while walking, limited phone signal.
Activities: Walks, camel rides, picnics, rock climbing, game viewing.
Children: Children above age of 4 are welcome.
Our Opinion: A small, owner hosted operation in the heart of northern Laikipia, Karisia offers the opportunity to explore a beautiful wilderness region on foot as part of a camel-assisted walking safari. Nights can be spent in traditional mobile camps or at the semi-permanent Tumaren Camp. Wildlife often encountered includes elephant, reticulated giraffe, various species of antelope and plains game.
