Location: Situated on private land of 15 acres on the side of a valley on the Mbagathi River bordering Nairobi National Park.
Rooms: 10 open plan cottages with en suite bathroom facilities, as well as a fireplace and outside deck with great views over the park.
Facilities: The main building of the lodge has a lounge and dining area overlooking the river, and there is a swimming pool in the grounds.
Activities: Activities included in the accommodation rate are shared 4×4 game drives in Nairobi National Park, as well as visits to the Giraffe Centre & Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage.

Our Opinion: The Emakoko is a family owned and managed luxury lodge built into the side of a valley on the Mbagathi River, studded with fig trees, bordering Nairobi National Park. Situated on private land of 15 acres, the lodge’s entrance is through the park, which is an ideal way to escape the Nairobi traffic. The lodge is surrounded by the most beautiful trees, including the majestic migumo (fig) trees, which play an important part in Kenya’s traditions. A large variety of bird life can be seen around the lodge, from green wood pigeons to the two resident eagle owls who keep a beady eye on the other residents. Whether you are enjoying an Emakoko cocktail in the viewing area or simply a coffee by the pool overlooking the river, relaxation is assured. There is also the chance to see the resident hippo grazing on the lawn outside the rooms in the early evening or the morning.
