Facilities: Shower and WC, queen-sized beds, iPod docking stations, support vehicle including kitchen. Guide, driver and chef (who retire at night leaving you to experience the total solitude).

Activities: Tunupa Volcano and pre-Inca tomb excursions, village visits to remote Coqueza and Jirira, which has an eight room hotel built from salt, star gazing, cycling and salt trekking.

Our Opinion: Journey by 4×4 across the Uyuni Salt Flats, an adventure that very few people on the planet will ever experience.

Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
