Mwagusi Safari Camp

Location: Situated deep inside the north-east side of the park, the exclusive Mwagusi Safari Camp lies nestled in the banks of the Mwagusi sand river.

Rooms: Each of the 13 guest tents is enclosed in thatched bandas, blending with the surrounding bush, and boast twin beds, en suite bathroom with shower and verandah overlooking the sand river with its abundant animal and bird life.

Facilities: Restaurant, bar, al fresco dining in the dry riverbed at night.

Activities: 4×4 game drives, guided nature walks, bird watching,

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Our Opinion: Mwagusi is one of Ruaha’s premier safari camps. With knowledgeable guides under the leadership of Chris Fox, you track wildlife quietly on foot or by open-sided Land Cruiser. A rich diversity of animal and plant life is sheltered by the park: miombo forest, rolling woodlands, hills, rivers and plains are host to a great variety of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, sable, roan, huge herds of buffalo and large concentrations of elephant and, uniquely in East Africa, both lesser and greater kudu.
