Mgahinga is one of Uganda’s most scenic national parks: its most striking features are the three conical, extinct volcanoes which form part of the spectacular Virunga Range straddling the border region of Uganda, Congo and Rwanda. The volcanoes’ slopes are biologically diverse, and their peaks provide a striking backdrop to this remarkable landscape.
Resident wildlife includes mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, black & white colobus, elephant, buffalo, various antelope and a wide range of birdlife.
This is superb hiking country for the adventurous, as well as a potential base for tracking mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. It is also possible to experience traditional Batwa (Pygmy) forest culture.
A visa is required for Uganda and it is required for all visitors to carry a Yellow Fever certificate (regardless where they have travelled from)
