Lamanai Outpost Lodge

Location: On the banks of Lamanai Lagoon and just yards from the famous Lamanai Archaeology Site.

Rooms: 18 cabanas.

Facilities: Restaurant, bar.

Activities: Nature walks, night walks, medicine trails, bird watching, sunset cruises, canoe expedition, visit to Lamanai ruins, native fishing, night spear fishing and Howler Monkey trek.

Children: Children are welcome.

Our Opinion: This is a mid range to high end lodge for guests who are truly interested in nature and wildlife. Tours are on the doorstep. All the staff at the lodge are from the local comunity and the lodge is involved in and in some cases supports variety of conservation/research/educational projects.

Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
