Location: On the banks of the Bitou River, conveniently situated in one of the most spectacular regions of the Garden Route, the lodge is located a few kilometres from the town of Plettenberg Bay with its world-renowned beaches, shops and restaurants.
Rooms: 10 suites (6 Luxury, 2 Honeymoon and 2 Family Suites). Each of the suites is individually and stylishly furnished featuring a spacious living area with fully appointed bathrooms, open air showers, ceiling fans, fireplaces & underfloor heating. Each room is fitted with personal bars and satellite television. The rooms also have wooden viewing decks, ideal for enjoying the fabulous views & indigenous vegetation.
Facilities: The lodge has a restaurant in the name of EMILY’S which exudes the essence, spirit and feel of Africa with beautiful pieces in every nook and cranny. The kitchen produces an eclectic menu for candlelit dinners and fun
lunches around the pool area and the barman is a dab hand at sundowner cocktails in the evening to be enjoyed whilst watching a magnificent sunset! The deck tables virtually hang over the river and have a spectacular view of the wetlands, river and far distant mountains. The lodge boasts two pools, one part of the restaurant and the other down a leafy boardwalk.
Activities: Canoe rides, mountain biking, golf, fishing, massage, sailing, whale watching, kayaking, horse riding. Guests are invited to use the canoes for a gentle paddle up the river and for more strenuous exercise there are mountain bikes which can be ridden in the area or taken to the nearby forest trails. There are many walks to be enjoyed on the nearby farm roads and a 2 km brisk walk takes one down to the beautiful Keerbooms marshlands where the river meets the ocean. The river hosts an abundance of water bird life and with the riverine bush that attracts many species of birds, so great for twitchers!
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Our Opinion: Emily Moon River Lodge is a small, exclusive country house, embracing the southern bank of the Bitou River, with 180 degrees views from each of the free-standing, luxury chalets. The lodge overlooks the Bitou Valley and wetland area which is home to abundant birdlife.
