Bay Islands

The Bay Islands, situated approximately 60 km off the northern coast of Honduras, with their clear, calm waters and abundant marine life are Honduras’ top tourist destination.

Why visit Bay Islands?

Resting on a coral reef, the islands are ideal for diving, sailing and fishing, and for those people not too keen on watersports there are many beautiful palm-fringed sandy beaches. There are three main islands, Roatan, Utila and Guanaja, and 65 smaller cayes, all of which combine to make up the 125 km island chain.

Reached by air from either San Pedro Sula or La Ceiba, Roatan is the largest and most developed island with a rich history of British & Spanish colonization mixed with Pirate settlements and the beginnings of the Garifuna culture in this area. The island is 40 miles long with a beautiful mountainous backbone and a shoreline dotted with pristine beaches and small Garifuna & mixed communities. The whole island is surrounded by coral reefs making it one of the worlds prime diving, snorkelling and fishing destinations.
