Langkawi or ‘The Jewel of Kedah’ is an archipelago of 99 islands located in the Andaman Sea about 30kms off the mainland coast of north western Malaysia. The largest of the islands and one of the very few to be populated is Pulau Langkawi, which is surrounded by turquoise waters and sandy beaches, whilst inland it is a world of jungle-clad hills, lush paddy fields and a treasure trove of wildlife, culture and legends.
