Our opinion: One of the world’s iconic hotels, the Mandarin Oriental is a much sought after luxury haven. Elegant and sophisticated yet oozing character due to its history, something rarely found in Bangkok. The famous colonial Authors’ Lounge, well known for its afternoon tea has some fascinating memorabilia from famous authors and the jazz bar is lively. A very popular Thai wedding venue makes the public areas extremely busy. The hotel offers a wide range of extremely sophisticated dining options and its river terrace is the perfect place to watch the river-life go by. Immaculate service, elegant decor and an experience to stay here. The suites are mostly in the River Wing but a few in the historic Authors’ and Garden Wing. Please note that there is no capacity for cots or extra bed in room for younger children.
