The Lodge at Chaa Creek

Location: In the Cayo District, in the foothills of the Maya Mountains only a short drive from San Ignacio Town.

Rooms: 23 rooms (ranging from cottages to villas).

Facilities: Restaurant, jungle bar, swimming pool, spa.

Activities: Horseback riding, mountain-biking, hiking, canoeing, butterfly farm, rainforest medicine trail, bird watching, Natural History Centre and Mayan ruins tours.

Children: Children are welcome.

Our Opinion: Really nice option in the Cayo District. Very friendly staff, owners live and work here, lots of activities on offer, great for families. Chaa Creek have been awarded many eco-tourism accolades, and the owners were the pioneers of sustainable tourism in Belize and are great promoters and supporters of the cause. One of our favourites in this area.

"Many thanks indeed. Fab holiday! Everything went incredibly smoothly, and all the staff/drivers etc charming and all our connections etc went smoothly. Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
