Location: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge is an ideal base for gorilla tracking and golden monkey viewing, situated approximately 15 minutes’ drive away from the Parc National des Volcans headquarters.
Rooms: 30 individual brick & tile guest cottages with spacious interiors and comfortable furnishings. Each cottage has an en suite bathroom with a shower, as well as a fireplace in the room in case of cold evenings.
Facilities: The central area has a bar and a restaurant, whilst from the colourful lodge grounds you can enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding volcanoes.
Activities: Although the main attraction in the area is trekking to see the magnificent mountain gorilla, there are other activities including community visits, the lava flows outside Ruhengeri town and the vibrant & colourful local markets and villages
Children: Children over the age of 5 are welcome.
Our Opinion: A simple but comfortable traditional lodge very conveniently situated close to the Parc National des Volcans which protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range – home of the rare mountain gorilla – and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath.
