Location: Londolozi is a private game reserve located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, adjacent to the open border of the Kruger National Park. There are no fences between the Kruger and the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, allowing animals to roam freely and retrace their natural migration patterns.
Rooms: Each of Tree Camp’s 6 privately located guest suites has been constructed from timber & thatch and raised into the trees on stilts. In every bedroom there is a king size bed or twin beds, draped in mosquito netting. Other furnishings include bedside tables and anglepoise lamps, elegant seating, and black & white wildlife artwork. The colour scheme involves whites, creams, mahogany, and chocolate, not only in the bedroom but in each suite’s separate lounge area where there is comfortable seating around a coffee table. Other room amenities include air conditioning, fans, telephone, internet access, minibar, safe and hairdryer. The en suite bathroom facilities comprise a separate flush toilet, twin washbasins, step-up shower and bathtub, and there is also an outdoor shower on a private deck. The deck also houses a sala (private dining area) and a plunge pool.
Facilities: Tree Camp’s elegant lounge, dining area and bar are housed in the main lodge which is also constructed of timber & thatch on stilts, set amongst beautiful leadwood trees. In the lounge leather sofas, well-cushioned wood-framed armchairs & curved stools surround elegant coffee tables. The dining area contains chic individual tables flanked by upright chairs, and it is conveniently close to the camp’s well stocked bar. The menus are based on a delightful combination of old family recipes and Pan-African fare, favouring home grown organic produce and herbs from the kitchen garden to create dishes that are irresistibly delicious and healthy. It is also possible to dine on the deck, enjoying amazing views over the Sabi River. The camp also boasts a swimming pool where you can cool off in the heat of the day.
All guests have access to several of the communal facilities at neighbouring Varty Camp including the fitness centre, Healing House spa and photographic studio.
Activities: Exciting game drives are enjoyed in the morning and afternoon from the camp, as your knowledgeable ranger makes every effort to uncover fantastic wildlife sightings. In between game drives you can spend lazy afternoons on your deck, watching elephants bathing below in the river, or relax with a massage.
Other adventures offered from the camp include bush walks on the reserve, star gazing, birdwatching and Shangaan cultural excursions.

Our Opinion: From its pioneering days, Londolozi has blossomed to become one of the finest game lodges in South Africa and the first to become a member of the Relais & Chateaux group and a showcase for sustainable eco-tourism. Tree Camp is one of five Londolozi camps dotted along the Sand River within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. It is situated at the eastern end of the five camps, amongst leadwood trees along the banks of the Sabi River Sabi. The reserve boasts a dense concentration of wildlife and is home to the Big Five and is probably the best place in the world to get up close and personal with the elusive leopard. Elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and a vast variety of antelope make up the numbers and compliment the experience.
With over 16,000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same. Trackers sit up at the front of the Land Rover looking for fresh animal tracks, while rangers drive with astonishing skill through ravines and thickets in pursuit of elusive animals. Many of the rangers and trackers at Londolozi grew up living off the land and therefore have an incredible knowledge of the area and deep cultural connections to the fauna and flora. In addition Londolozi’s rangers specialise in photographic safaris and will try to position the vehicle for you to get the best angle for the picture.
