Location: Situated in a beautiful location in the Drakensberg Mountains adjoining the Giant’s Castle Nature Reserve.
Rooms: 11 rooms and 2 bedroom self catering cottages: all the rooms offer very comfortable accommodation and have been attractively decorated with en suite bathroom facilities.
Facilities: The dining room and lounge are cantilevered over a trout-filled dam, with views of the stunning mountains. An underground wine cellar – well stocked with South African premier wines – adds to the magic. The menu changes every evening according to the seasons and availability of the local produce. Dinner is a sumptuous six course affair to give you a memorable dining experience. Breakfasts are unusual and exciting and lunch is by arrangement – a picnic basket can be organised.
Activities: Activities at the lodge include trout fishing, horse riding, hiking, birding and swimming in crystal clear mountains streams, surrounded by rock pools and waterfalls.
Children: No children under the age of 12 years.
Our Opinion: Nestled in the Kamberg Valley, Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse offers the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful mountain views and some of the finest home cooking in South Africa, as well as wonderful walks around the Drakensberg Mountains.
