The islands all boast powder white beaches and are fringed by coral reefs whilst lush vegetation, including the ubiquitous coconut palm, ensures a cooling shade from the sun.
Most hotels are extremely well equipped, not only with their own dive centre, but also with a wide variety of watersports including windsurfing, catamaran sailing, parasailing, canoeing, water skiing, wake boarding and jet skis.
The Maldives are an excellent place to enjoy some fabulous sport fishing with plenty of game fish to be caught and this can be arranged at some hotels.
Please note that not every hotel offers all these activities so please check with us in advance of making a booking to avoid any disappointment.
The magic of the Maldives lies in the reefs that make up the archipelago of approximately 1190 islands. Each island generally has its own ‘house reef’ and it is both within and just beyond the reefs that the marine life is so spectacular.
Many species of tropical reef fish live within the lagoons which offer superb snorkelling opportunities, whilst just beyond the reef, as the depth of water increases, the large pelagics such as turtles and Manta rays as well as dolphin, barracuda and whale sharks make for some of the world’s finest and most exciting scuba diving.
Most hotels in the Maldives now boast a health centre and spa, which cater to the increasing demand for massage and beauty treatments.
A wide choice of treatments is generally available ranging from ‘Essence of Earth Massages’ to Seaweed Body Masques and even massage lessons.
Staffed by highly qualified professionals, these spas are the ideal place to rejuvenate and pamper even the most stressed of city executives.
The Maldives are very much an all year round destination, but the driest months tend to be from November to April when the temperatures are usually in the late 20’s and the days are typically calm with plenty of sunshine. Inevitably there can be some rain during these months, but it tends to be infrequent.
May to September/October tend to see higher temperatures with increased humidity as well as more rainfall and wind, but it is very possible to enjoy extended periods of good weather during this period.
