Location: Ulagalla is located in Thirappane, a 30 minutes drive from Anuradhapura and an hour and a half drive from Sigiriya. The property is located on a sprawling 58-acre estate nestled among two sparkling reservoirs, lush green paddy lands and lily ponds.
Rooms: 20 villas – most have a private plunge pool.
Facilities: Meals are often taken al fresco or in the 150 years old Wallawwa (main mansion), gym, laundry, lounge, safe, internet, spa, main pool.
Activities: Kayaking, horse riding, archery, village visits, tour of the vegetable garden, visits to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Sigiriya, Dambulla, Anuradhapura and Pollonaruwa.
Children: Children of all ages welcome.
Our Opinion: This is one of our favourite properties in the Cultural Triangle and in the whole of Sri Lanka. It is slightly further from Sigiriya than Vil Uyana however Ulagalla is well worth the longer drive for those in search of a very special retreat! The villas are scattered in the estate parkland given people plenty of privacy.
