Location: This informal hillside hotel, set on 14 hectares of tropical gardens, is 2 km from Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and 3 km from Monteverde Butterfly Gardens.

Facilities: 2 Restaurants, bar, 2 swimming pools, spa and gift shop.

Activities: Surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, canopy tours, mountain biking, horse riding and National Park visits, all available in the area.

Children: Children are welcome.

Our Opinion: A great hotel, with direct access to its own two small beaches, located on a large area of private forested land, so feels very private and exclusive, very removed from the hub of Manuel Antonio. Top service. This is our favourite in Manuel Antonio.

"Many thanks indeed. Fab holiday! Everything went incredibly smoothly, and all the staff/drivers etc charming and all our connections etc went smoothly. Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
