Location: On Santa Teresa beach on the Nicoya Peninsula.

Rooms: 11 villas (7 one bedroom villas and 4 two bedroom villas).

Facilities: Restaurant, bar, swimming pool, ocean view gym, yoga room and spa.

Activities: Surfing, fishing, snorkelling, pilates, horseback riding, yoga, stand up paddle boarding and various excursions in the area.

Children: No children under 12 years (except between 01 May & 31 August when children of 6 years or older are welcome).

Our Opinion: Although on the expensive side, this is a small and luxurious property and one of the finest boutique beach hotels in Costa Rica.

"Many thanks indeed. Fab holiday! Everything went incredibly smoothly, and all the staff/drivers etc charming and all our connections etc went smoothly. Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
