Our Opinion: This hotel has a central location near the city’s main plaza and only 10 minutes from Chan Chan ruins and the Moche Temples of the Sun and Moon. Visitors can easily walk to many of the city’s attractions from here, observe nearby colonial-era homes and churches, visit museums and tour the restored ruins of indigenous cultures in the nearby desert.

Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
