Location: Near the village of Santa Catarina Palopo on the shores of Lake Atitlan, 20 minutes’ drive from Panajachel.

Rooms: 7 rooms plus a 2 bedroom private villa.

Facilities: Restaurant, bar, indoor and outdoor lounge, small infinity pool, gym, indoor & outdoor dining and helipad.

Activities: Boat tours, walking tours and hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, zip lining, visiting nature reserves and market tours to Chichicastenango, Sololá, San Antonio Palopó and Panajachel.

Children: No children under 15 years allowed.

Our Opinion: Possibly the best luxury hotel in Guatemala, this hotel offers stunning decoration with every room and suite different from the next, large common areas both inside and out. Definitely our favourite on the shores of Lake Atitlan!

"Many thanks indeed. Fab holiday! Everything went incredibly smoothly, and all the staff/drivers etc charming and all our connections etc went smoothly. Highlights included white water rafting, zip wires, releasing new-born turtles into the sea, being in a boat amongst 200 dolphins, riding on beaches... Children and parents ticked off many from our “must do things in our lives” list. In terms of lodges, would rank Pacuare and Lapa Rios equal first.
