Located at 3,500 metres and associated with the Gulag (Yellow Hat) Buddhist sect, the monastery is an impressive twelve-story complex with fabulous views and also houses many items of Buddhist art such as stupas, statues, thangkas, wall paintings and swords. A visit to the kitchens with their large cooking fires and pots needed to feed the 60 resident monks gives a wonderful insight into the workings of this place.
