Location: Located on Hyena Island on the edge of the salt pans of Makgadikgadi.
Rooms: 10 Meru tents, each with an en suite outdoor bathroom. The tent interiors are classic old safari style, complete with comfortable beds, soft cotton sheets, African blankets and hot water bottles in winter. The Family Tent comprises two tents joined by a shared bathroom.
Facilities: In the style of Jack’s original camps, Camp Kalahari plays host to a traditional thatched lounge, library and dining area where delicious, hearty meals are prepared by the camp chefs. There is also a plunge pool with its raised deck and thatched pavilion.
Activities: 4WD game drives, visits to the resident family of meerkats, quad-biking excursions.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Our View: Camp Kalahari is a return to the traditional safari style of the old explorers and is the ideal base for those who are seeking fun, comfort, style and adventure. The camp prides itself on having no electricity, instead being lit by spirit lamps at night, giving a classic safari atmosphere. A very good value alternative to its nearby sister camps Jack’s Camp & San Camp.
