Skeleton Coast Safaris

Location: Unique four, five or six days’ flying safaris into the remotest areas of the Skeleton Coast.

Rooms: 3 fully equipped tented desert camps. Exclusive, privately owned and fully equipped, each camp is situated in a spot carefully chosen for its unique beauty. Accommodation consists of comfortable tents with en suite bucket showers and flush toilets.

Activities: Desert excursions by Land Rover, boat trips, exploring the desolate coastline and adjoining roaring dunes, Ugab rock formations, colorful red lava and yellow sandstone of the Huab environs, ancient Bushman rock engravings, visit to a settlement of the nomadic Himba people, panoramic vistas of the Hartmann Valley.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Our Opinion: Pioneered by Louw Schoeman in the 1970’s, Skeleton Coast Safaris has developed a unique safari for an insight into an unspoiled world. A major feature of these safaris is the flying, which offers breathtaking views of the shifting dunes, dramatic moonscapes and ancient shipwrecks scattered along the coast. On the ground you explore the scenic and ecological aspects of this environment with its wide diversity of flora and fauna as well as ancient Bushman engravings and the fascinating culture of the nomadic Himba people in 4×4 Land Rovers.
