M/V Ortelius

Cabins: Range of 53 cabins for maximum 116 passengers.

Facilities: Restaurant, bar and observation lounge.

Activities: Lectures, zodiac cruising, hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, camping, polar diving, helicopter explorations and photography workshops.

Our opinion: The Ortelius was built in Poland in 1989 and served as a special purpose vessel for the Russian Academy of Science. Being renamed and completely refurbished since, Ortelius now is a solid and comfortable small expedition ship with little pretentions that fulfils the purpose of your Antarctic cruise: to spend as much time ashore as possible. She is the only expedition ship that carries helicopters on selected departures to reach more inaccessible regions in search of emperor penguins and one of the few that offers possibilities to dive in the polar waters.
