Jordan

From the Romans to the Ottomans and the Nabateans to the Crusaders, Jordan has been at the crossroads of history for thousands of years and has been left with an incredibly rich cultural legacy of castles, citadels and churches.

This small, peaceful and enchanting country packs a punch way above its weight in terms of the sheer variety of fascinating historical treasures to explore. A drive down the ancient King’s Highway takes you to Madaba and Mount Nebo and culminates in the pink sandstone cliffs of the astonishing Rose City of Petra.

Its natural wonders are equally spectacular ranging from the lush Nature Reserve of Dana to the salty shores of the Dead Sea and from the golden dunes of Wadi Rum to the gin-clear waters of the Red Sea.

Ancient History

Petra

It is a biblical land, the historical setting where leading figures of the Bible performed their miracles and reached out to ordinary people. Many of the historical sites are easily accessible to visitors, and for a religious or cultural pilgrimage the Bible can almost serve as a virtual guidebook.

Explore the ancient cities of Petra and Jerash, ride a camel through the extraordinary desert scenery of Wadi Rum, trek through the rugged and beautiful landscape of the Dana Reserve, float in the salty Dead Sea or go diving in the crystal clear Red Sea and see the exotic marine life – Jordan is a land of mesmerizing beauty and contrast.

Jordan is a country that can be visited all year round, however the best times to visit are the Spring months of March to May when the temperatures are lovely and the countryside is looking green after the rains or the Autumn months from September to November when the days are lovely and warm with clear skies.

It is still possible to travel from December to February, but it can be cold and even snow in some places, whilst the summer months from June to August can be less busy, but very hot.
