Location: Perched on the western edge of the wondrous Ngorongoro Crater.
Rooms: 3 very exclusive, luxurious individual camps (two of 12 suites and one of 6 suites). Each sumptuous suite is raised on stilts and enjoys some of the most lavish decoration of any African safari lodge. A king-size bed dominates the bedroom, which is exquisitely furnished with locally crafted furniture and dramatic sweeps of fine silk curtain. The en suite bathroom is similarly elaborate with a large bath and shower as well as a toilet with one of the most stunning views in the world!
Facilities: Restaurant, wine cellar, massage, safari shop.
Activities: Game drives on crater floor, walking safaris.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Our Opinion: Overlooking the ancient volcanic caldera with breathtaking views of the crater floor almost 2,000 feet below, this remarkable lodge was inspired by a traditional Masai manyatta design. Each suite enjoys discreet personal butler service whilst the main library and dining room have to be seen to be truly appreciated – a lavish blend of the traditional with the avant-garde makes for a most memorable experience along with the superb cuisine and faultless service.
