WALK IN THE ANCIENT FORESTS OF GAL OYA WITH THE CHIEF VEDDA
The chief Vedda (the indigenous people of central Sri Lanka) will guide you through the ancient forest where his ancestors used to live. The forest comes alive as he explains his tribe’s use of medicinal plants, the location of their ancient hunting grounds and cave dwellings, as well as how hunter-gatherers sustained themselves in the ancient jungles of Gal Oya.
This is a very interesting walk and the forest itself is beautiful.
The best time to visit the South-West/South coast, the Tea Country & Kandy is from December to April.
From May to September these areas are affected by the South-West Monsoon which brings rain and wind. It is still possible to tour the country but it is recommended not go in the water on the South & South-West Coast. The East coast of Sri Lanka is at its best at that time of the year.
The Cultural Triangle and the East of Sri Lanka are affected by the North East Monsoon from October to February.
October & November are the months of the inter-monsoon which can affect the whole island.
