Kitulgala is famous for being the hub of adventure centered outdoors activities such as white-water rafting on the Kelani River, jungle trekking, canyoning and abseiling.

The town’s other main claim to fame is that the epic Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed on the banks of the Kelani River. Sadly the bridge was blown up at the end of the film and there is nothing left to see.
